THE FAN CODE explores Chinese culture through the circular fan — not as a symbol to be reproduced, but as a starting point for discovering a culture in constant transformation.
Inspired by the women of the Miao communities in Guizhou, whose weaving, embroidery and craftsmanship have carried memory and identity across generations, the collection reflects on women as active keepers and creators of cultural heritage.
Traditional motifs, colours and handcrafted textures are fragmented and reinterpreted through contemporary silhouettes, printed silks, translucent layers and structured fabrics. Heritage becomes a living language — inherited, transformed and brought into the present.
For HUI Milano, the East is not a fixed image of the past, but something continually shaped by the people who live and reinterpret it today.
The East does not reveal itself all at once. It unfolds.
